Let’s face it.. makeup is a pain in the ass because most of it is so expensive! I’m a bit of a makeup junkie, so buying everything at Sephora can add up quickly. Sometimes you get what you pay for in life, and sometimes, when you’re really lucky, you don’t have to pay an arm and a leg to get good stuff.
In Canada, there’s a store called Shoppers Drug Mart (comparable to CVS/Walgreens in the states) and it has the best makeup selection for drugstore makeup! I go in for contact solution and come out with 3 lipsticks, 5 nail polishes, fake eyelashes, and granola bars.. every time. Anyways, when I got to Georgia, a friend introduced me to a place called Ulta.. AKA HEAVEN. This place is amazing. Just picture Sephora and Shoppers had a baby – thats Ulta. On one side, theres Sephora makeup, so all of the high brands and expensive makeup.. on the left side is the cheaper makeup that Shoppers and Walgreens sells, and in the back theres a hair salon and a bunch of hair products/tools. I think theres a few Ulta’s in Canada (look them up) so if there’s one near you, I recommend you go ASAP.
ANYWAYS, today’s post is about 10 amazing foundations that won’t break the bank! When I was testing out these drugstore foundations, I was naturally drawn to skin-clearing ones or foundations with SPF in them for summer. Let me know if you try any of these and how you like them!
1. Covergirl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3 in 1
This is a gorgeous full coverage foundation. Probably my second favourite of the bunch! It feels more of a natural, creamy formula, and settles very naturally. It can also be worn medium to full coverage and lasts all day. This is great for all skin types.
2. Revlon ColorStay
This is one of my faves! It’s a thin, liquidy consistency but builds to full coverage and stays put pretty much forever and a day. I cannot say enough good things about it! This foundation comes in different options depending on your skin, so you can get the Combination/Oily Skin (which is what I got) or Normal/Dry Skin option! Whichever one you choose, it will have a flawless, matte coverage that lasts.
3. e.l.f Acne Fighting Foundation
This lightweight acne fighting foundation works to disguise redness, blemishes and uneven skintone. The flawless coverage foundation formula is infused with acne fighting key ingredients and soothing Aloe to help prevent and treat acne blemishes.
4. L’Oreal True Match Foundation
It is great for summer because it has SPF 17, and it is a bit lighter coverage than the others. It has a natural matte and luminous finish with a silky texture.
5. Neutrogena Skin Clearing Foundation
Neutrogena SkinClearing foundation is formulated with MicroClear technology to not only treat blemishes, but to also help prevent emerging breakouts. It breaks through oil and unclogs pores for fast acne relief. It has a huge selection of shades, its full, buildable coverage and is a dewy finish.
6. Maybelline Fit Me Foundation
This is another foundation with full coverage, and super easy to find your shade because theres a huge selection. Its a matte finish, but doesn’t leave for face looking dull.
7. Loreal Infalliable Pro-Matte
This foundation is for my tanned sisters, if you’re pale, there isn’t really a light shade. It’s creamy, easy to blend, and dries to a super matte finish. It lasts very long and is great for oily skin.
8. Revlon Colorstay Whipped Creme Makeup
This is very similar to the liquid version, but a whipped consistency. I actually feel like this is thicker and gives a more powdery finish. I really like it when I want to have extremely high coverage that is very matte.
9. Rimmel Stay Matte Foundation
This is a very thick and creamy foundation that settles into a matte finish. I would definitely recommend this for more oily skin types as it is very matte. Best of all, this is the cheapest option of the bunch. Great for the ladies who are on a budget or perhaps a teenager who is new to makeup.
10. NYX Stay Matte but not Flat Powder Foundation
Of course I had to include a powder foundation option! I find this powder to be extremely similar to the MAC Studio Fix powder. When applied with a dense kabuki brush, it gives quite a bit of coverage. I also feel like it stays put pretty well. NYX has a liquid option as well, which I’ve heard amazing reviews on!
Have an amazing weekend babes, and make sure to comment on my Insta or on here which ones you try and like/dislike!
