HEY BABES! After a very fun, busy & productive summer, I am more than excited for EVERYTHING fall has to offer us. I am so thankful its been such nice weather lately, but I’m not going to lie… I’m kiiiinda excited for it to get a bit chillier so I’m not sweating like a mad woman when I wear a sweater and jeans outside. Fall wardrobes are sooo freaking fab, I love everything about it – from big comfy blanket scarves to cute booties, high waisted denim, over the knee socks & boots and chunky knit sweaters.
Now I know its been a hot minute since I blogged, but I am baaaack!! This summer was super busy – I was managing a boutique as well as buying for it, plus trying to juggle long distance with my boyfriend and seeing my friends in between weddings and showers.. its not an easy task as a 26 year old!! Then, to make it even more difficult, my laptop broke, so I’ve been without it literally ALL summer. I just got it fixed, and let me tell you my little munchkins, I’m soooo happy to be back in action. I’ll write another blog post about what is happening with my life because there are SO many changes happening and I can’t wait to share everything with you! BUT IN THE MEANTIME… I’ve got the post my ladies have been waiting for.. how to slay the fashion game this fall.
Whether its a classic Burberry style trench (one of my faves) or a fun coloured one from Forever 21, a trench coat is always a good idea. They’re simple but classy and literally go with everything.
High waisted jeans
I’m obsessed with high waisted jeans! They just make everything look better (in my opinion). I’ve been loving vintage Levi’s lately, because when you find the right pair, they make your bum look AMAAAAZING. I get 90% of my Levi’s when I’m on buying trips, but Aritzia has a good selection of Levi’s (both vintage + new at some locations) and Urban Outfitters. And if you’re in Ontario and want to go for a roady with the girls or you already live close to Guelph, Cambridge or Peterborough.. The Patch usually has Levi’s in a variety of sizes. It’s the store I buy for, and fun fact – we get Levi’s from the same place Urban Outfitters, Nasty Gal and Aritzia get theirs. 💁🏽
Oversized Denim Jackets
I’m loving oversized denim jackets (and oversized everything, really.. but what isn’t oversized on a 5’0 frame??😜) I love how versitile denim jackets are because you can wear them with basically anything. They’re so cute over a t-shirt dress, or add it to an all-black or white outfit, pair it with a pair of jeans for the Canadian Tuxedo look (which will always be in). You can find cute, inexpensive ones at Forever 21 or get more of an investment piece at places like Oak + Fort and Aritzia.
The velvet trend took off fairly quickly last fall, so when I was still seeing it all over this year, I’ll admit – I was semi-surprised. But I’m definitely not mad about it, and with all the cute velvet stuff for you to buy at an affordable price, I don’t think you will be either.
Slide On Loafers
If you’re not willing to drop $800-$1500 on the Gucci loafers… then you’re in luck, because there are super cute, well made dupes basically everywhere! My faves are from Steve Madden. I am so obsessed with these shoes, they’re so comfy and keep my lil tootsies warm on the colder days!
Vintage Harley + Band Tees
Unless you’ve been living under a rock this past year, you’ve probably seen a number of vintage inspired band tees popping up all over mainstream stores like Forever 21, Brandy Melville, and Urban Outfitters. I am loving this trend because they’re comfy af and so easy to style with jeans and sneakers.
Layering for fall is a must, especially in Canada. I’m so excited to experiment with layering when it gets a bit colder out, and I’m definitely using these looks as inspo!
On buying trips, I go through thousands of vintage pieces a day. Army jackets and denim jackets are one of my favourite categories to go through because they’re all similar but so unique at the same time. The army jackets I pick from are not just a basic camo coat from Forever 21 (which are super cute – don’t get me wrong), they sometimes have last names of soldiers on them, which I’ve been told its disrespectful to wear an army jacket with someones last name on it which isn’t your own. SO I obviously don’t pick those ones for our store. I love to pair this look with black jeans or a t-shirt dress and over the knee boots or sneakers.
I hope you guys enjoyed this post and you got some inspo on how to wear the different trends this fall! I love you all and can’t wait to start blogging regularly again!!
